Gabriel M’bwana is a Research Fellow in Programming at the Health Economics and Policy Unit (HEPU) under the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHeS). With over five years of experience in the IT field, Gabriel has contributed to a wide range of projects involving non-profits, government agencies, and private sector clients. He specializes in building secure and scalable back-end systems, disease modeling, and data simulation. Gabriel is proficient in Python, C#, Java, Laravel, Node.js, and DevOps practices. Currently, he is supporting simulation modeling work for the Thanzi la Onse (TLO) project. Gabriel is a member of the ICT Association of Malawi (ICTAM) and is passionate about leveraging technology to solve real-world public health and development challenges.
- Conducting computational health systems research using the TLO model, developing simulation-based methods to evaluate the availability and impact of health infrastructure, equipment, and human resources. Focused on policy-relevant modelling of government and CHAM health facilities in Malawi, supporting evidence-based decision-making in health service delivery.
- Assessing the introduction of kidney transplant services in Malawi
